I am up with the review of Biotique Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo. I have used couple of other variants from Biotique’s shampoo range. One of them was green apple based and the other shampoo was sea kelp based. Both the shampoos were meant for oily hair so they dried out my hair badly.
They made my hair rough, frizzy and hard to manage. My wavy hair already has its own frizzy texture. Those Biotique shampoos didn’t perform nice at all. I was curious to try out Biotique Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo since it is designed for dry and damaged hair types. People from every hair type leave good comments at every shopping portal.
I thought; let’s give this one a shot. Keep reading to know if this Soya Protein based shampoo fared my hair or not.
About Biotique Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo
Biotique Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo is a blend of pure soya bean protein, berberry and wild turmeric extracts to cleanse hair without disturbing its natural pH balance. This hair wash prevents colour fade, protects perm, and promotes healthy shine.
Packaging: This shampoo comes in a translucent plastic bottle. The bottle is super sturdy and so is its green coloured flip cap. Earlier Biotique products were packed in cylindrical bottles. Recently they changed their packaging paying more attention to their aesthetic look. New bottle is sleek and smart-looking.
Colour & Consistency: The shampoo looks white in colour. Its consistency is on the thicker side. Most Biotique shampoos come in gel form. However, the Soya variant has typical opaque creamy appearance.
Since it is a dense shampoo, you need less amount of product for each use. The shampoo creates enough lather. It makes me wonder if it has sulphates or not. Biotique never mentions 100% of their ingredients.
Fragrance: Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo has a soothing fresh smell. It has a soapy aqua fragrance. Biotique’s other shampoos are nearer to the smell. You can easily recognize if you have used any other variants ever.
Quantity & Price: This shampoo is priced at Rs.155 for 180ml. It is an averagely priced shampoo. You can get 20-30% discount in various sales. Biotique Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo is available in plenty of sizes. The smallest size is 75ml and it costs Rs.79. The biggest size is 800ml which you can buy for Rs.670.
My Overall Thoughts
Though I don’t have thick hair, my hair reaches the waist. I oil my hair 2-3 times a week through the winter months. Naturally, I need quite a lot of hair cleanser. I always look for affordable shampoos that deep cleanse hair and scalp. Bio Soya Protein Fresh Nourishing Shampoo from Biotique does provide purifying actions.
It is not as drying as Biotique’s Green apple and Sea Kelp shampoos. However, excess use might leave your hair under-nourished. I think it will fare normal to slightly dry hair types more. This shampoo gets rid of excess oil, sebum and also sweaty smell that you get after workouts. The mild smell lifts my mood.
This shampoo is good in terms of cleansing but it is not that effective on my stubbornly frizzy hair. I do need a rich nourishing conditioner, preferably silicone based to keep my hair manageable through the day. It removed my product build-up really well. There’s one thing that bothers me about this shampoo though.
The kind of lather this Soya Protein shampoo produces is very similar to common sulphate based hair cleansers. Plus, this has some kind of preservative too. Otherwise, it would have expired pretty soon which does not happen. I don’t think Biotique’s preservative free claim is true.
I am happy to find this one hair care product from Biotique that actually works for me. I would have loved it more if the brand revealed all the ingredients.
